JOIN OUR CHURCH FAMILY AS WE FAST & PRAY TOGETHER EACH FRIDAY
There are numerous examples in the Bible of how prayer & fasting can be a powerful resource and way of seeking God’s intervention in our lives.
Each week, starting in September, we will pray & fast together as a church family as we pursue God’s presence and purpose in every area of our lives.
Below you will find answers to questions and resources to guide & encourage you during this time.
How long is the fast?
Our first Fasting & Prayer Friday will be on Friday, Sept. 4th.
Fasting will begin after your evening meal on Thursday and we will break the fast at our evening meal on Friday.
What kind of fast is it?
You can choose to fast any way that you feel God is leading you to. Some options include: a complete fast (only water), a partial fast (only fruits and vegetables or only liquids), a media fast (no TV, social media, etc.). Make sure to maintain a healthy approach to your fast and do not discontinue medication or make drastic changes to your diet that could affect your health without first consulting your medical professional.
What are we praying for?
THE CHURCH: Pastors, church leaders, unity in our local church community, global missionaries, and Kingdom growth
(Ephesians 4:11-16; Matthew 28:18-20)
OUR COUNTRY & WORLD: Government leaders (national & local), wisdom & clarity in governing, repentance and restoration with God and fellow citizens.
(Ephesians 1:17-23; 1 Peter 2:13-17; 2 Chronicles 7:14)
MARRIAGE & FAMILY: Spouse, significant other, children, siblings, parents, extended family, in-laws
(Psalm 127:3-5; Ephesians 5:25-28; Proverbs 31:10-11)
FREEDOM: Addiction, shame, oppression, spiritual warfare
(2 Timothy 1:7; Romans 8:38-39; Galatians 5:1; Luke 4:18)
CAREER & FINANCES: Opportunity, integrity, good stewardship, generosity, testimony,
(Matthew 6:33; 2 Corinthians 9:6-7)
HEALTH & HEALING: Strength, physical restoration, rest, protection, mental illness, depression, anxiety, self-discipline
(Isaiah 53:4-5; Jeremiah 33:6; 1 Corinthians 6:19)
REPENTANCE & FORGIVENESS: For our own sin & disobedience, lack of faith, for those who have hurt or offended us, for grace and mercy to overflow from us
(Psalm 103:8-12; 1 John 1:7; Ephesians 4:31-32)
SELF: Spiritual vision and maturity, wisdom & revelation, to bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit, gratitude, perspective, conviction, passion for the things of God, for grace when we fall short, to be more like Jesus
(Matthew 11:28-30; Psalm 25:4-7; Psalm 51:6-12)
How long should we pray?
We are going to be praying 3 times a day—once in the morning, once in the afternoon (from 12-12:30 there will be a Facebook-live prayer event you can participate in), and once in the evening before dinner. Each time of prayer can be as short or as long as you want it to be. If you prayed for 2 minutes on each topic on the prayer card you will pray for about 15 minutes. If you pray for 5 minutes on each topic you will pray for about 40 minutes. Setting intentional time aside to pray and seek God is the most important thing.
What if I have questions?
You can email us at any time with any questions you may have during this time of prayer & fasting.
